The Unofficial Results Are In For San Marcos City Council

Staff Reports

The City of San Marcos’s voters have spoken; the unofficial elections results are in, and there is only one change coming to City Council.

Councilmember Saul Gonzales received over 50 percent of the votes to hold onto place 2 of the San Marcos City Council.

Gonzales received 2,269 of the votes; his opponents, Lisa Marie Coppolette received 1,115, and Devin Barrett received 418 votes.

Residents will welcome a new city council member to the place 1 seat.

San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commissioners, Maxfield Baker and Mark Gleason ran to succeed her.

Councilmember Lisa Prewitt, Place 1, submitted the first of the documentation necessary to run for Hays County Commissioner in 2020 and did not seek re-election for City Council.

Baker secured his position for City Council Place 2 with 1,922 votes over Gleason’s 1,889 votes.

Election results won’t be official until they’re canvassed, and the San Marcos City Council members will be sworn in on November 18 at 6 PM at City Hall.
