Top-Seeded Team USA, Kohl Head To Quarterfinals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Texas State’s Jordan Kohl continues to push Team USA to success as the team finished undefeated in preliminary action at the World Deaf Championships in Washington, D.C. With wins over Brazil, Canada, Japan, Russia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine, Team USA heads into quarterfinal action as the top seeded team set to face No. 8 Turkey first in the elimination rounds on Wednesday.

 

Team USA has only dropped one set, beating opponents 21-3 in preliminary play. Kohl and USA already beat Turkey, 25-12, 25-10, 25-13, on Monday. With a win against Turkey on Wednesday, Team USA will advance to the semifinals to face the winner between No. 4 Japan and No. 5 Brazil at 12 p.m. CST Thursday. A win in that match puts Team USA in the championship at 4 p.m. CST on Friday.

Kohl and Team USA already won the Pan American games with Texas State’s right side hitter putting down 49 kills in 15 sets to lead the team. She was the second leading scorer in the entire tournament and is on her way to doing just as well in the World Deaf Championships.
