Two Bobcats Tabbed As Sun Belt Setter, Offensive Players Of The Week After Flawless Weekend

The next match on the docket for the Bobcats is the 11th Annual Pink Match.

New Orleans – Erin Hoppe and Amy Pflughaupt collected weekly Sun Belt Conference honors following Texas State’s flawless performance from this past weekend, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Hoppe, a senior from McKinney, Texas, earned her second-straight SBC Setter of the Week laurel. Pflughaupt, a sophomore from El Campo, Texas, was selected for the first time in her career as the SBC Offensive Player of the Week.

The duo helped lead the TXST volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 road wins at Little Rock and Arkansas State. The loss for the Red Wolves was their first shutout in conference play since Nov. 22, 2014. The Bobcats have now won each of their last five matches by 3-0 margins, which is the first such occurrence since 2000.

In the victories, Hoppe registered the Sun Belt’s top two setting performances for three-set matches. She dished out a career-high 47 assists against the Trojans before distributing 42 against the Red Wolves. Overall for the week, Hoppe posted 89 assists (14.83 assists/set), 15 digs (2.50 digs/set), four blocks (0.67 blocks/set) and three kills (0.50 kills/set).

Pflughaupt tallied 5.00 kills per set (30 total) on a .338 attack percentage, while adding 15 digs, one solo block and one assist. She posted career-highs in both kills (19) and hitting percentage (.357) in the victory over the Red Wolves, while adding eight digs. She began her week with 11 kills and just four errors (.304) to go along with seven digs and one block against the Trojans.

Texas State now has four weekly award winners this season. Hoppe earned top setter laurels last week, while junior Madison Daigle was slated as the SBC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11. Hoppe now has four career weekly accolades on her resume (Oct. 10, 2016 / Oct. 24, 2016 / Oct. 2, 2017). Pflughaupt became the third Bobcat to be selected as offensive player of the week since the maroon and gold joined the Sun Belt. She joined Amari Deardorff (Sept. 2, 2013) and Kelsey Weynand (Oct. 10, 2016).

The next match on the docket for the Bobcats is the 11th Annual Pink Match. TXST will play host to TCU at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 inside Strahan Coliseum.
