Update: Fatal Crash Kills Husband, Injures Wife On Hwy 21

San Marcos police responded to a crash on State Highway 21 around 6 p.m. Kristian Nicole Guerrero, 24, and her husband, Fabian Guerrero-Moreno, 23, were driving out of town when a Chevrolet Impala crossed the center line and crashed into them.


San Marcos resident loses her unborn child and husband in a head-on collision with an alleged drunk driver, Tuesday.

San Marcos police responded to a crash on State Highway 21 around 6 p.m. Kristian Nicole Guerrero, 24, and her husband, Fabian Guerrero-Moreno, 23, were driving out of town when a Chevrolet Impala crossed the center line and crashed into them.

Guerrero-Moreno was killed in the accident. His wife, Kristian, was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical center in serious condition. Police reported that Mrs. Guerrero’s injuries resulted in the loss of her unborn child.

The driver of the Impala, 21-year-old San Marcos resident, Shana Lee Elliott admitted to officers on the scene that she had been drinking while tubing before the accident.

Elliott was arrested for driving while intoxicated; following Guerrero-Moreno’s death, the charge were raised to intoxication manslaughter. Hays County Jail is holding the suspect under two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault.

Texas State University has confirmed Elliott is a senior studying public relation and mass communications at the university.

Caldwell County deputies and Texas State Tubers are working together to improve security on the water during the weekends.
