Chisum Announces The Hiring Of New Graduate Assistant For 2017 Campaign

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State volleyball coach Karen Chisum has announced the hiring of Summer Morgan as the program’s new graduate assistant.

Morgan is set to join the Bobcat coaching staff after competing at the University of Memphis for the past two seasons (2015-16). She also was a member of the University of Arkansas volleyball team for three years from 2012-14.

She is set to begin her appointment August 1.

“I’m looking forward to having Summer on our staff,” Chisum said. “She’s a very personable former student-athlete who has excelled at both Arkansas and Memphis.”

Morgan will be serve as the director of operations for the team and will also assist with practice duties, while overseeing court setup. She will handle stat system coordination responsibilities, as well as assisting with Meet the Cats, Youth Clinics and Senior Night.

She competed in 65 matches during her time with the Tigers, where she posted two-year totals of 465 kills, 255 blocks, 68 digs, 17 assists and 14 aces. She was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

The Springdale, Arkansas, native spent her first three collegiate campaigns with the Razorbacks. She competed in both 2012 and 2013, and sat out the 2014 season.

Morgan helped lead Arkansas to the 2012 NCAA Championship First Round, and she totaled 93 kills, 78 blocks, 15 digs and four aces in 36 matches.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from Memphis in December 2016.
