Local Chick-Fil-A Restaurants Honor Fallen San Marcos Police Officer

On Dec. 4, Ken Copeland was serving an arrest warrant in the El Camino neighborhood with a small force of his fellow police officers.

Chick-Fil-A restaurants in San Marcos, Kyle and New Braunfels are donating the profits from Thursday, Dec. 28, to the family of San Marcos Police Officer Kenneth Copeland.

On Dec. 4, Ken Copeland was serving an arrest warrant in the El Camino neighborhood with a small force of his fellow police officers. He was hit when the suspect open fired on the officers on the scene. Copeland was taken to Central Texas Medical Center in the back of a police car to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds; he died of his injuries.

Copeland had served the San Marcos Community with the San Marcos Police Department for 19 years.

Chick-Fil-A’s location in Kyle shared a video yesterday that the chain restaurants locations in Kyle, San Marcos and New Braunfels were participating in a fundraising event dubbed “Ken Copeland Day.” All profits from today’s sales will be donated to Copeland’s surviving wife and four children. According to the San Marcos Police Department,  “the 100 Club of Central Texas, which provides emotional and financial support to families of fallen first responders, has received donations and letters of support in his name as well. Hundreds came out to honor Officer Copeland during a funeral procession and service in San Antonio.”
