U.S. Rep. Joaquín Castro To Join Broad Coalition Of San Marcos Activists Fighting Against SB 4

San Marcos City Council is due to discuss their plan for SB 4 this evening, which dozens of SB 4 opponents plan to attend at 5 PM, dressed in white, bearing signs.

U.S. Rep. Joaquín Castro will join representatives of Mano Amiga, LULAC Council #654, Centro Cultural Hispano, Student Community Of Progressive Empowerment and Cinema Club, to discuss SB 4 today, Aug. 15, at City Hall.

The San Antonio congressman will hold a press conference and speak alongside grass-root leaders around 12:45 p.m.

Resistance among the San Marcos community to SB 4 — embodied by endorsement for litigation from 750 petition signatures & over 50 “loyal & local” businesses, as well as a powerful op/ed from a dozen clergy members — is drawing statewide notice.

Congressman Castro wishes to lend his support to San Marcos efforts against SB 4, the “show me your papers” law.
