Two suspects in custody in murder investigation, one still at large

SEGUIN – On April 6, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Seguin Police Department apprehended two suspects related to the shooting which occurred Monday April 4, 2022 in the 600 block of N Vaughan Ave (Park West).

Seguin Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were able to identify Sahra Vega (21, Seguin) and Christanio Soto (21, Seguin) as occupants in the vehicle used in the shooting that injured an 18-year-old male from Seguin and fatally wounded Maekalyn Ann Marie Smith (18, Seguin).

An arrest warrant was obtained for Vega and Soto for one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Murder on April 6, 2022 which was issued by Judge Darrell Hunter, who set bond at $1,000,000 total. Vega and Soto were taken into custody during a traffic stop on a vehicle which they were occupants in.

Seguin Police Department is working with multiple law enforcement agencies in the search for Draven Rene Reyes (20) of Seguin, who was discovered to be the shooter. Reyes has an active arrest warrant for Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

This is an active, ongoing investigation and more arrests are anticipated. Anyone with information on the location of Draven Rene Reyes is encouraged to call the Seguin Police Department at 911 or (830)-379-2123. Callers can also contact the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 877-403-8477 (TIPS).

Crime Stoppers has offered up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Draven Rene Reyes. Reyes is considered to be armed and dangerous.
