Kyle Police Department investigating Fatal Hit and Run

KYLE, TEXAS – The Kyle Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian.

On Thursday, Aug. 5 at 2:29 a.m., a Hays County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol came across a man who had been struck by a passing vehicle in the 100 block of Windy Hill Road. Officers immediately began lifesaving efforts until Buda Fire and EMS arrived. The victim, identified as Jose Emilio Berberena, 22, of Kyle, was transported to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital, where he later died from injuries.

The Kyle Police Department Crash Investigation Unit arrived on the scene and immediately began an investigation into the incident. Evidence gathered on the scene leads investigators to believe the driver was driving a 2010-2012 white Ford F-150 pick-up with a chrome bumper. The truck is believed to have sustained damage on the front grill, and it may have a defective passenger side headlight.
