Suspect charged in Hays County Homicide

On April 25, 2022, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a deceased person in the 2900 block of Main Street in Buda, Texas. Detectives were called to the scene and determined the death to be suspicious. The unidentified male was taken to Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy where it was determined the decedent had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation as a Homicide and later identified the decedent as 19-year-old Esbin Santiago Gomez from Guatemala. Through the support of Crime Analysts and the Crime Scene Unit, Detectives were able to establish a suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect who is from El Salvador was identified as 25-year-old William Rojas.
Rojas has been charged with Murder, a First-Degree Felony; two counts of Tampering with Evidence/Human Corpse, a Second-Degree Felony; and Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Third-Degree Felony. William Rojas is currently in Travis County Jail on unrelated charges and will be transferred to the Hays County Jail at a later time.
