San Marcos Library Upcoming Spring Break Events
The San Marcos Public Library has announced their schedule of events during spring break for all ages.
The Library has access to a collection of library materials; entertaining and educational programs for all ages; fast, free computer, Internet, and information services; and comfortable facilities in which to read, relax, and connect with others.
Monday, March 18
• Scratch & Snap Coding
WHAT: Code Ninjas bring hands-on projects which teach the principles of coding in a fun way. For ages 7-14.
TIME: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon – Registration required.
Tuesday, March 19
• Storytime
WHAT: Stories, songs, and playtime for everyone!
TIME: 10 & 11 am
• Cuéntame Bilingual Stories
WHAT: Stories, songs, and playtime for everyone!

•Ballet Storyshare
WHAT: Meet real ballerinas! Join Central Texas Ballet for a ballet-themed story time and a live demonstration for ages 4-10.

Wednesday, March 20
• Spring Craft
WHAT: Make your own spring flowers! Supplies provided and craft will take 20-30 minutes to complete. For ages 5 & up, or younger with adult help.
TIME: 12:30 – 1:30 pm
• Fired Up About Reading
WHAT: Join San Marcos firefighters for cool stories and a look at their firetruck! See the technology they use for rescues and fighting fires.

• Let’s Move!
WHAT: Get your body moving! This program promotes physical literacy in a high-energy, non-competitive way.
AGES: 3-5 TIME: 10 to 11 a.m.

• Mathworks
WHAT: Texas State University brings activities from its popular Mathworks camp to the library, making math fun for ages 8-13.

• Free Art Class: Irish Calligraphy and Illumination
WHAT: This program will offer an overview of the history of Irish illumination (illustration and decoration of manuscripts) from the seventh through twelfth centuries.

• Criminal Justice: Reform Efforts in Texas
WHAT: Join Mano Amiga for an educational presentation on criminal justice reform efforts in Texas, and how that pertains locally to San Marcos.

• Home Beer Brewing
WHAT: This free course will cover the significance of home brewing, as well as styles of beer including variations of yeast, color, flavors, aroma, alcohol and carbonation, the supplies and ingredients needed, and a dry demonstration of how to brew beer at home.

Sunday, March 31
• After Hours Concert: Classical Music of India
WHAT: Join us in celebrating spring with a special after-hours library concert. Renowned classical artists Indrajit Banerjee (Sitar), Indradeep Ghosh (Violin), and Gourisankar (Tabla), will fill the library with the sounds of India’s oldest tunes. Free and open to the public. Snacks and tea provided.
