Sierra Martin | Managing Editor
SAN MARCOS —On July 23 at 3 p.m. the city of San Marcos announced there was a large police presence at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Mill Street. San Marcos Police SWAT and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to a barricaded subject call and instructed people to avoid the area.
According to The International Association of Chiefs of Police, “A barricaded individual is a person who has taken a position in a physical location, most often a structure or vehicle, that does not allow immediate police access—and who is refusing police orders to exit. These types of situations can be highly volatile and have the potential to endanger the lives of officers and others.”
At 3:54 p.m. the city of San Marcos provided an update through Twitter that the suspect was in custody with no injuries, and residents may resume normal activities in the area.
