Hays County reports one COVID-related fatality; 582 active cases

HAYS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality: a San Marcos man in his 40s. The department also reports 96 new lab-confirmed cases along with one (1) new hospitalization and three (3) new hospital discharges. This report covers October 16-18.

There are 165 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 28,322. The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 29,290. Hays County has 582 active cases. In the past 21 days there have been 996 active cases. Hays County has had 1,328 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 18 people are currently hospitalized. Of those, 16 (89%) are unvaccinated.

Note, Hays County will begin sending out a COVID-19 update via news release once each week beginning the week of October 25.
