Hays County reports one COVID-related fatality; 59 additional recoveries

HAYS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one (1) COVID-related fatality: a man from San Marcos in his 70s. The department also reports 28 new lab-confirmed cases along with zero (0) new hospitalizations and three (3) new hospital discharges. There are 59 additional persons considered recovered.

The total number of persons considered recovered is 28,542. The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 29,420. Hays County has 489 active cases. In the past 21 days there have been 878 active cases. Hays County has had 1,333 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 15 people are currently hospitalized. Of those, 11 (73%) are unvaccinated.

Note, beginning Monday, Oct. 25, the Hays County Local Health Department will begin sending out one news release per week with COVID-19 numbers. The online COVID-19 dashboard is updated M-F and can be found on their website.
