USATF Outdoor Championships Conclude Decoud’s And Hardy’s Seasons

The junior beat out five other collegiate jumpers including this year’s NCAA Outdoor Champion, Madeline Fagan of Georgia.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Texas State athletes Chelsie Decoud and Tramesha Hardy concluded their season over the weekend competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium.

“It was a good experience for both Chelsie and Tramesha as this was their first USA National Championships,” said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Jody Stewart. “It was also great to watch out two student-athletes compete at the USA National Championships wearing a Texas State uniform. They both return and will be even better from this experience for future championships.”

Decoud finished 13th in the women’s high jump after entering as the 18th seed. The junior beat out five other collegiate jumpers including this year’s NCAA Outdoor Champion, Madeline Fagan of Georgia. She cleared the opening height of 1.80m (5-10.75) on her second attempt.

The New Orleans native was unable to get over the bar at 1.85m (6-0.75), which would have tied her personal best, to exit the competition.

Entering as the 28th seed in the 200-meter dash, Hardy completed the race in 23.47 to place 22nd. The redshirt sophomore finished ahead of four fellow collegiate runners, three of which competed earlier this month at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and two professionals. Hardy’s time was her fastest non-wind aided mark this year.
