Living Outside The Lines: LIVE! With Maroon 5!

Perhaps it was the release of 2015’s Sugar that really caught my attention. But, #promise, I liked the band’s sound long before I laid eyes on smokin’ hot front man, Adam Levine…

Although I despise using Wikipedia as a source, it seems for this column, it is my only option. Maroon 5, ironically a seven member pop rock bank from Los Angeles, California, essentially emerged in 2001. Their 2002 album, with the lead single Harder to Breathe, debuted at number six on the Billboard Chart, and went platinum in 2004. In 2005 Maroon 5 won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

I can’t pinpoint exactly when I became a Maroon 5 fan, but I should definitely be included in the count. Perhaps it was the release of 2015’s Sugar that really caught my attention. But, #promise, I liked the band’s sound long before I laid eyes on smokin’ hot front man, Adam Levine.

When the sounds of Maroon 5 were first introduced in our home, it was decreed that no man who’d surpassed puberty could actually reach those high notes. Well, that’s the sanitized version of the conversation anyway…. nonetheless, I love their music and was anxious to attend a concert.

No way was my darling husband, who’d do “almost” anything for me, spending $100+ per person, go to see them in concert. So, what else does an obsessed fan in this situation do? I looked around to see which friends loved me enough to depart with their hard earned money to indulge my obsession. Sadly, at the time, there were none.

Oh, that virtue patience, inevitably, she comes through. Band tours, much like life itself, are cyclic. Miss them one year, don’t fret, they’ll be back, and sure enough Maroon 5 announced their 2018 tour sometime late in 2017.

Before the calendar changed to a new year, I’d found not one, but two friends willing to attend the Maroon 5 concert at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. Tickets were purchased, dates marked on the calendar, vacation days submitted and the concert day countdown begun.

Using hectic to describe my work schedule is an understatement. Concert day arrived and frankly I was utterly stressed. No way could I knock off early, but noon arrived; I shut down my computer, grabbed my purse and headed out the door!

Maroon 5 did not disappoint!!! The venue was fabulous, my husband chose amazing seats, I was with good friends, and all my worldly cares were forgotten for two very entertaining hours!

From the first strains of Payphone to One More Night, Girls Like You, and the final stanza of She Will Be Loved, Adam and the gang kept the packed coliseum mesmerized. It was an energy packed performance with Mr. Levine taking more steps than an Apple device might be able to count, absolutely phenomenal!!

Seriously, who else can righteously claim to have Moves Like Jagger???

Until Next Time,
