Wimberley ISD Artists’ Creativity On Display

Wimberley, Texas — Appreciation and support for the arts is what makes the residents of the Wimberley Valley stand out as creative and unique. It also inspires passion in so many Wimberley ISD students who take full advantage of the District art program and opportunities to enrich

their learning through partnerships with the Wimberley Valley Art League (WVAL), The Wimberley Community Civic Club and the Wimberley Lions Club. All three organizations came together with the District to honor 80 students, ages five to 18, with a reception and an art show that will run through May 13, at the Wimberley Community Center. The art show includes works by eighteen WISD students.

“These young artists really worked hard on their projects and just as importantly, they have focused, learned and expanded their techniques to improve their skills. It definitely shows in their final products,” said Donna Mial-Gary, Art Club and Interact Sponsor.

Along with all four WISD campuses—Scudder Primary School, Danforth Middle School, Jacob’s Well Elementary and Wimberley High School—other area participating schools were Blanco River Academy, Katherine Ann Porter School and St. Stephen’s Episcopal School.

“Art class is an emotional release. It allows you to express your feelings in a way that words don’t convey. Art is my favorite class,” said Shiloh Gold, WHS tenth grader, one of the WISD students whose art is on display at the community center.

The art program at WISD includes art classes that begin at Scudder Primary School with opportunities in elementary and junior high and continuing through senior year at Wimberley High School.
