According to the proclamation, each year children, adolescents, and adults die from vaccine-preventable diseases or their complications. Safe and effective vaccines are readily available to help protect against disease, disability, and death from communicable diseases such as diphtheria, hepatitis A and B, human papillomavirus, influenza, measles, meningitis, mumps, pertussis, pneumococcal disease, polio, rubella, tetanus, and varicella.

The immunization fair will offer free vaccinations to eligible children, and all can enjoy a bookmobile as well as free games, snacks, and prizes.

Emergency vehicles will be on scene for photo ops, and parents are encouraged to bring their cameras as well as take the time to chat with agencies on hand to explain the services they offer.

The proclamation encourages everyone to ensure they and their loved ones are up-to-date on their immunizations to protect them, their families, and the community from preventable diseases.
