The Texas Department of Public Safety identified Wednesday the suspect involved in a shooting that occurred last week in San Marcos.

The incident took place at the 7-Eleven convenience store on the Northbound I-35 frontage road at Wonder World Drive around 9:30 PM on July 15.

Jeffery Alan Scott, 35, was located three days after School Teacher Jennifer Hickmon was found dead in her southeast Oak Cliff home in Dallas.

According to officials, State Troopers and US Marshals had been tracking Scott, who claimed to be Hickmon’s boyfriend, for his alleged involvement in the case.

Officials said they had received a tip claiming Scott had admitted he had killed the school teacher on July 12.

Scott allegedly open-fired on a DPS trooper during an arrest attempt at the San Marcos convenience store.

The trooper was not harmed in the altercation; however, Scott was wounded by return fire.

According to records, Scott is currently being held in the Hays County Jail on a $1 million bond while awaiting transfer back to Dallas for prosecution.
