Singing Rattler Hit the Right Notes, Two Singers Advance to State Levels

San Marcos High School sent 11 choir students to San Antonio on January 11, 2015, to audition for the TMEA All-State Choir. Four students earned honor recognitions, and two are advancing to the State level competition in May. The two who are advancing are Noah Reinhuber (5th chair, Bass 2) and Joslyn Goodloe (6th chair, Alto 2).

Emma Reinhuber earned 11th choir (1st Alternate Soprano 1), and Cassidy Wallace earned 12th chair (Alternate Soprano 2).

Over 60,000 students initially entered the All-State competitive process. From these, 840 will be selected to perform with All-State Concert and Jazz Bands, 220 will perform with the All-State Orchestra, and 500 will perform with All-State Choirs as part of the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Conference, February 13-16, 2015. According to SMHS choral director Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber, over 26,000 people from Texas and beyond will attend over 300 workshops, 60 performances, and visit 1,100 exhibitions at the nation’s largest music educators’ convention.

Noah Reinhuber will perform with the Texas All-State Men’s Choir, and Joslyn Goodloe will perform with the Texas All-State Women’s Choir in San Antonio on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. They were chosen through a competitive process held at the District, Regional, and Area competitions. Both are juniors in the Vocal Music Department at San Marcos High School. Noah is a private voice student of Dr. Ron Ulen of Texas State University, and Joslyn is a private voice student of Mackenzie Powell. This is the first time for both of the students to perform at an All-State level – the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.

Noah is the son of Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber and Dr. Joachim Reinhuber; Joslyn is the daughter of Crystal Flowers.
