General Manager, John Lairsen, of Tanger Outlets, presented the San Marcos Fire and Police Departments with a check for $1,000 dollars each on Dec. 19.

“The donation checks were presented to the San Marcos Fire Department and San Marcos Police Department for their so very much appreciated service in the community,” Lairsen said.

“We are very fortunate to have Tanger Outlets continued support over the years,” said Fire Chief Les Stephens. “We are very grateful for Tanger Outlet Mall’s thinking of us and graciously contributing to our efforts to make the City of San Marcos an even better place to live and visit.”

Donations to the Fire Department go toward items such as public education materials, smoke detectors, and                                                                                  firefighting equipment.

“The San Marcos Police Department is grateful for our partnership with Tanger Outlets, and we are excited to put their generous donation to good use toward our goal of making San Marcos a safer community,” said Chase Stapp, Chief of Police.

“Each year, we use donation funds such as these to fund projects which would not normally be funded through the regular budget process. We look forward to turning the Tanger donation into real public service hardware,” Stapp continued.

The funds went toward the department’s annual open house and educational activities during Fire Prevention Month in October.

“We are very grateful for Sam’s Club generosity and graciously contributing to our efforts to educate our residents, especially children, in fire safety and prevention,” Stephens said. “They are a wonderful partner.”
