The Capital Area Metropolitan Organization (CAMPO) wants your input. CAMPO is hosting open houses for the 2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the Regional Arterials Study.

2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program
In December 2017 CAMPO issued a project call to its member governments and regional transportation partners to submit applications for transportation projects to be approved by CAMPO’s Transportation Policy Board (TPB.)
These applications underwent a thorough scoring process, based on criteria approved by the TPB. The selected projects are now open for public review and comment prior to approval by the TPB on May 7, 2018.
Out of the six projects submitted by the City of Buda, the four below are in the running for federal funding:
1. FM 967 and Main St. Intersection Improvements
The FM 967 and Main St Intersection Improvements will include widening of the existing roadway to provide dedicated left turn lanes, extend the length of the existing right turn lane, widen the sidewalks, provide signage and striping for enhanced pedestrian safety, reconstruct the existing diagonal parking, intersection enhancements to accommodate larger vehicles, and relocate traffic signal poles with signal modifications to accommodate the new pavement section and lane configuration.
The intersection will be treated with improved pedestrian crosswalks and enhanced pavement to contribute to the downtown character. Sidewalks will be constructed along the length of the project per the 2015 Downtown Master Plan.
2. Overpass Rd/FM2001 Multi-Use Path
This project will construct a 10’ wide multi-use path for pedestrian and bicycle traffic along the east side of FM 2001 to connect to existing sidewalks located along Overpass Rd and proposed sidewalks located along Old Goforth Rd.
3. FM 1626 AND FM 967 Study
To further support local and regional travel, this project will study the intersection of FM 1626 and FM 967 to determine the improvements necessary to preserve capacity along the recently expanded FM 1626 corridor. This study will help identify the intersection and other improvements needed to help realize the full capacity of the recent improvements to FM 1626 by removing a potential bottleneck along a regional arterial.
4. Garlic Creek Parkway Study
This study will look at the potential for making two new connections through undeveloped areas on the north side of the city. The first will be a north-south connection known as Garlic Creek Parkway (GCP) which would extend from RM 967 to the future extension of SH 45 W.
The second will be an east-west connection known as the Garrison Road Connector (GRC) which would extend east from RM 967 to provide access to Garrison Road and potentially to the future extension of SH 45 W. Both have been identified as a transportation need for the City and Region through planning studies, including the Buda Transportation Master Plan and Hays County Transportation Plan.
CAMPO is also developing a Regional Arterials Plan to provide mobility choices that are safe, convenient, reliable, and efficient. Arterials are roadways that connect to freeways, local streets and destinations. The plan will build on local planning efforts while having a regional focus.
The public can learn more about this regional study and provide feedback through an online survey. You can also comment on the Regional Arterials Plan during any of the open houses.
