CASA of Central Texas Seeks Event Sponsors

CASA of Central Texas is inviting the community to “support the child advocacy” and become a sponsor for an upcoming annual fundraiser, CASA Corral.

The money raised from the “hoedown” will go toward recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers as the voice of children who have suffered from abuse or neglect. The funds will support CASA of Central Texas’s four-county program, which incorporates Comal, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Hays Counties.

Individual tickets are available to the public, but the program also seeks sponsors to support the event and organization.

Sponsors of CASA Corral will receive a reserved table and tickets to the event; they will also be recognized “leading up to, during and after the program” for their support.

Current sponsors for the event are The GVTC Foundation, Coldwell Banker 1st National REALTORS, Mariposa at Hunter Road Apartments, McKenna Foundation, Gunn Nissan, John Manthey, J&R Gymnastics, The Kyle Law Firm, Property Professionals Inc., Rio Verde Construction and Texas Lehigh Cement Company LP.

“The GVTC Foundation donates to causes that fall into five philanthropic areas and the services that CASA of Central Texas provides meet our criteria under Health & Human Services,” Bruce Forey, The GVTC Foundation, board of director, said. “CASA’s mission to advocate for abused and neglected children in our court system, along with its volunteer program to safeguard children in foster care, provides a great value to our community. Investing in CASA is an investment in humanity.”

The event will take place on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the River Road Ice House in New Braunfels, Texas.

Information on becoming a sponsor and individual tickets for CASA Corral may be found online at www.casacentex.org or over the phone at 830.626.2272.

“The GVTC Foundation board of directors understands that fundraising events are necessary so that nonprofits can continue to offer their services to the community,” Forey said. “In addition, these events are a fun and effective way to generate awareness for the organization. The GVTC Foundation is proud to be a $5,000 sponsor for the CASA Corral. It’s going to be a great event!”

CASA of Central Texas began in 1985 in Comal County with 18 volunteer advocates and the mission to recruit and train volunteers who would provide an objective viewpoint in civil child protection court cases. By 1994 the program expanded into Hays and Caldwell counties and into its fourth county, Guadalupe, in 1996. CASA has grown to more than 200 active volunteers offering a unique service, advocacy for children who have been abused or neglected and are under State protective care.

“I have been the only adult in my child’s life that is always there for him. Placements, schools, teachers, therapists – all of the adults – are constantly being replaced or changing,” Bob Williams, CASA Volunteer since 2010, said of a child he is appointed to advocate for. “These teens have no stability and no one to trust, except their CASA.”

CASA of Central Texas advocates for abused and neglected children in the court and child welfare system by recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers. In 2016, CASA volunteers served nearly 500 children in Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties, but there were still children who did not have the voice of a CASA. More advocates are needed, and training is held throughout the year. If you would like to make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child in your community, or for more information about the CASA Corral fundraising dinner and auction, please contact the CASA office 512-392-3578 or 830-626-2272 or visit www.casacentex.org.
