City Of Austin Seeks Artist For Local And National Pre-Qualified Public Artist Pools
Selected artists will be eligible for public art commissions in 2017-19.
Austin —Art in Public Places (AIPP), a program of the City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department, seeks exceptional emerging and established public artists working in a variety of visual media and artistic approaches for both its Local and National 2017-2019 Pre-Qualified Artist Pools.
Professional visual artists, or artist teams, at least 18 years of age who live and work in the United States are eligible to apply. Local artists are eligible for both pools. The application deadline is Monday, November 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
The purpose of the Pre-Qualified Artist Pools is to provide a streamlined application and selection process for artists interested in being commissioned for public art projects through Art in Public Places.
Selected artists or artist teams from the Pools may be contracted to design and fabricate permanent artwork for eligible Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) of various scopes, timelines, and budgets throughout the City of Austin.
Program staff and the Art in Public Places Panel will utilize the Pre-Qualified Pools for selecting artists for future artwork opportunities; however, selection from one of the Pools is not an exclusive way for artists to be considered for artwork commissions.
Possible artwork opportunities include, but are not limited to, public art construction projects involving the following City departments: Austin Transportation, Parks and Recreation, Austin Public Health Department, Austin Public Library, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and the Austin Convention Center, with individual project budgets expected to range from $20,000 to $300,000 or more.
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 through www.PublicArtist.org, the online application system used by Art in Public Places. Full-time, permanent City of Austin employees and CIP consultants and their employees and sub-consultants are ineligible to apply.
