Heritage Association to host Easter Egg Hunt

Put on your bunny ears and grab your Easter baskets to prepare for this fun filled event! On Saturday, April 16, 2022, the Heritage Association of San Marcos (HASM) will be hosting their first Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veramendi Plaza Park at the corner of Hopkins and C.M. Allen Parkway.
The Easter Egg hunt begins at 11:30 a.m. with activities taking place until 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Live music from musician Molly Jane Hays and a raffle drawn at 12:30 p.m. for kids and parents are among the activities included. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be for sale for families to have a picnic in the park.
Renee Graham, HASM Communication Chair and Easter Egg Hunt Chair, said that this is the first time the organization has hosted the egg hunt, but they hope it becomes a yearly event.
“The Easter Egg Hunt was just a great memory with my kids growing up in Dallas, to go into the Arboretum and letting them pick up easter eggs that were out on the lawn and then having a picnic,” said Graham.
The HASM plans to use the money raised during the Easter Egg Hunt to provide funding for the restoration of the Cock-Burleson House.
“So this is this is one way of doing fundraising for the restoration of the Cock House, which has been renamed to the Cock-Burleson House,” said Graham. “Burleson was an African American and very much involved with San Marcos development.”
According to HASM members, they were originally going to only allow the first 100 children who registered to participate, but have already had around 300 children signed up. Due to the “overwhelming success” of the event, HASM may have to end early registration on Thursday, April 14. Children must be registered before the event begins to participate.
Additionally, check-in for the Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10:30 a.m. for children to receive wrist bands and a map of the park activities. The first 250 registered children that check-in will receive gift certificates for a free tube rental at Lions Club and a free voucher for a kids haircut at Premier Cuts.
Registration is required for children who want to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt, who must be between the ages of 2-12. More information on the event can be found on the Heritage Association of San Marcos website.
