KVUE-TV Show Their Support, Kindness After Memorial Day Floods
Have you ever noticed that during a major disaster or just a major event that it will bring out the best or worst in people or businesses? What used to be called “carpet Baggers” are now called “cons” or “thieves” come out in droves.
It’s almost like families you would never dream of behaving badly, become very greedy after another family member passes away.
Below tells a great story, one in which is full of kindness and thoughtfulness that Hays County and many cities that lie within, have been blessed with since the Memorial Day Flood.
You have not heard them or Hays County brag about it. What we have recently heard was other media outlets have shown they have a different set of standards and ethics during this devastating time in Hays County.
From one media outlet to another, San Marcos Corridor News would like to personally thank KVUE-TV for not just stepping up to the plate and showing their support, but for their organizations ethics and doing a great thing.

As a result of the Memorial Day Weekend flood, KVUE created a “GoFundMe” page and started collecting money for the “Help Hays County” fund. In 30 days KVUE collected $40,942 from individual KVUE viewers and small businesses that wanted to help.
KVUE has determined that the most effective way to use these donated funds would be for improved flood warning systems and emergency responder rescue gear. They would like to put $38,942 of these funds in an account with the county while waiting on the findings and suggestions from the GBRA and other agencies currently assessing the river. Once river assessments are complete, KVUE would like to advise the county on which project(s) to use the donated funds for. They have also requested that a portion of these funds ($2,000) be forwarded to the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department for new water rescue dry suits.
KVUE recognizes the Blanco river area as an important natural resource that we all love and rely on and hopes that these funds will help improve safety for the people who live and visit the Blanco River in the future.

Water Rescue Gear
Deposit $2,000 into liability account and process payment to Wimberley Volunteer Fire Dept.
