COVID-19 hospitalizations double in Texas as omicron strains staffing

The number is surging, though it is still much lower than the peak one year ago.

On April 6, 2020, the state started reporting the number of patients with positive tests who are hospitalized.

 

Note: From July 23 to July 28, 2020, between 9% and 18% of hospitals reported incomplete hospitalization numbers due to changes in reporting to meet federal requirements.

Percentage of Texans fully vaccinated

About 93% of Texas’ 29.1 million residents are age 5 and older and thus eligible for a vaccine.

Note: The number of fully vaccinated Texans decreased slightly on Dec. 14, 2021, because of a data processing error from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
