Float Fest Cancels Sixth Annual Festival

Staff Reports

Float Fest has canceled its annual festival for 2019, which was scheduled to take place from July 20 thru July 22.

Organizers made the announcement via Facebook on June 21 citing weather had caused delays to preparations at the new festival site.

“We are extremely saddened to announce today that Float Fest 2019 is being canceled. This was a difficult decision to make, but due to several recent roadblocks outside of our control and in an effort to do right by our fans, the decision to cancel the event was the best option,” Float Fest Organizers said in an official statement.

All ticket holders will receive refunds for the full costs of their tickets through Eventbrite for all attendees who purchased tickets via their site.

Ticket purchases are expected to be refunded within 10 to 14 business days.

“We have been working around the clock to prepare the new festival site in Gonzales, but at this time we don’t feel the grounds are ready to fully showcase everything Float Fest is about,” organizers said. “With the weather, Gonzales saw an extraordinary amount of rain in May and June. Although the site cleared, the rain created delays of construction.”

Float Fest organizers said the festival will return for 2020.

While floaters wait in anticipation, the festival organizers will be finishing out the site in Gonzales.

The annual festival originally took place in Guadalupe County along the San Marcos River. However, in January 2019, the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court voted to deny the festival’s permit after more than three hours of discussion.
