I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

• Northbound I-35 exit ramps at Posey Road (#199) and Centerpoint Road (#200) are closed. The southbound I-35 entrance ramp south of Posey Road is also closed. | Until further notice

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

• North and southbound I-35 closed nightly at Stassney Lane. The southbound entrance ramp at Stassney Lane and the northbound entrance ramps at William Cannon will also be closed. | Friday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 4 from 11 PM until 10 AM

 

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily at Little Texas Lane. | Monday, Aug. 5 through Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road closed daily at Boggy Creek Drive. | Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 9 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly from William Cannon Drive to Boggy Creek Drive. | Wednesday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 9 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

• Stassney Lane closed nightly at I-35. The Stassney Lane U-turns will also be closed. | Friday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 4 from 8 PM until 10 AM

 

• Westbound Stassney right turn lane closed daily at I-35. | Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 9 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

• Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from William Cannon Drive to Foremost Drive. | Through late summer 2019

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from William Cannon Drive to Stassney Lane. | Through late summer 2019

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

• Northbound I-35 auxiliary lane closed nightly from Woodward Street to Oltorf Street. | Monday, Aug. 5 through Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Southbound I-35 frontage road closures nightly from Oltorf Street to Woodward Street. | Tuesday, Aug. 6 through Friday, Aug. 9 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

• Southbound I-35 auxiliary lane closed from Algarita Avenue to Woodward Street. The entrance ramp north of Oltorf Street will also be closed. | Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Southbound I-35 frontage road closures at Oltorf Street. | Thursday, Aug. 8 from 8 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with ongoing maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

• North and southbound I-35 flyover ramps at SH 71 nightly closures | Sunday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 auxiliary lane at Wells Branch Parkway closed. The entrance ramp from Howard Lane will also be closed. | Monday, Aug. 5 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from Berrywood Drive to VFW Road. | Monday, Aug. 5 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• St. Johns Avenue Bridge Long-Term Closure •

Crews have closed the St. Johns Avenue bridge over the I-35 mainlanes. All traffic on St. Johns Avenue will turn right onto the I-35 frontage roads and utilize the non-signalized U-turns at US 183 or US 290 East to access St. Johns Avenue on the other side of I-35.

Bicyclists and pedestrians will still be able to safely cross I-35 at St. Johns Avenue on a temporary walkway restricted to non-vehicular traffic. The reconstructed bridge is expected to reopen late summer 2019, weather permitting.
