Kyle Parent Named Winner Of National Working Parent Scholarship
The Working Parent Scholarship is a way to help families obtain a better education to help build a career, and the applicants had to show how to successfully balance parenthood, working and excelling in school.
The company Job-Applications.com today announced winners of the company’s national Working Parent Scholarship, which recognizes the efforts of students across the country who balance the difficult tasks of parenthood, working and excelling in school.
Job-Applications.com awarded $1,000 Working Parent Scholarships to Jamie Allen, 30, of San Jose, California; Andrew Dahle, 27 of Nampa, Idaho; and Cody Westbrook, 28, of Kyle, Texas.
In addition to the three U.S. winners, the Ohio company, awarded a scholarship to one Canadian working parent, Joey Tanny, 33, of Montreal, Quebec.

Cody Westbrook, 28, has a 1-year-old son. He is attending Freed-Hardeman University as a first-year graduate student and is working on a degree in New Testament.
“The financial realities of higher education in a difficult economy make this scholarship a sweet and welcome help. Thank you for playing a significant role in helping me to better myself for my family and my ministry through education,” Westbrook said.
Job-Applications.com has awarded $1,000 scholarships to people in Arizona, California, Louisiana, Michigan, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
Through its sister site, Job-Applications.ca, scholarships also have been awarded to working parents in Canada.

Applicants submit a 600-word to 1,000-word essay on how to successfully balance parenthood, working and excelling in school.
The scholarships were created by the Canton, Ohio-based company as a way to recognize the financial burden of obtaining a college education.
Nationally, seven in 10 seniors who graduated from public and nonprofit colleges in 2015 had student loan debt, with an average of $30,100 per borrower, according to a report from The Institute for College Access & Success.

More than 1,000 people from throughout the U.S. have applied for Working Parent Scholarships since it was established in 2013, and roughly $20,000 has been awarded by Job-Applications.com.
