Hays CISD Announces Rezoning Process

Hays CISD parents, students and staff received a letter from Tim Savoy, Hays CISD public information officer, about the convening of an Attendance Boundary Rezoning Committee.

On Oct. 13, Hays Consolidated Independent School District announced the district was in the process of creating an attendance zone for the new elementary school, which will open in August 2018.

Hays CISD parents, students and staff received a letter from Tim Savoy, Hays CISD public information officer, about the convening of an Attendance Boundary Rezoning Committee.

The committee with recommend adjustments for the district’s attendance zone maps to the Board of Trustees. The new zoning will accommodate the new elementary school, which voters approved in the May Bond election. The new campus will give the district 14 elementary schools in total.

Bond money will also be used to build a replacement for Buda Elementary and a new high school.

“We know anytime attendance zone changes are proposed people are highly interested – and rightfully so.” Tim Savoy said. “Changes in attendance zones may affect you in real and sometimes substantial ways.”

Savoy also announced the creation of a special webpage to keep parents, students and staff up-to-date on the rezoning process.

“It has the proposed maps, a way for you to email the committee your thoughts, and additional important information,” Savoy said.
