Texas State Men’s Cross Country Claims Fourth At Texas A&M Invitational

Next up for the cross country programs is a trip to the Natural State for the Chile Pepper Festival next Saturday.

 

College Station, TexasThe Texas State men’s cross country finished ahead of six regional ranked teams Saturday morning to claim fourth place at the Texas A&M Invitational ran at the Watts Cross Country Course. The women’s team ended up 12th with two top 50 finishers.

The men’s 8K race started the day at 8 a.m. and saw Joseph Meade finish 13th in a time of 24:23.2. While a couple seconds shy of matching his career best at the distance, his time ranks fourth in program history.

Logan Pittdman crossed the finish line in 17th place in 24:34.7. The mark was the fifth quickest in school history.

Jose Angel Gonzalez threatened to finish in the top 20 as he was 19th at the 5K check point. He was just over three seconds behind from achieving the feat in 24:44.7 to finish 23rd overall. His time was the eighth quickest ever by a Bobcat at the distance.

Rounding out the scoring for the men was Noe Belmares, Jr. with a 32nd place finish, an improve of 26 spots from the 2K check point, and Cody Miller with a time of 25:22.2 in his first collegiate race at the distance.

Pacing the women’s team was freshman McKynzie King in 35th after crossing the 6K finish line in 22:22.3. Kendra Long made a 14 spot jump from the 2K check point to finish 46th in 22:35.2. Also finishing in the top half of the 140 runners was Madilyn King with a time of 22:55.1 for a 57th place finish.

Next up for the cross country programs is a trip to the Natural State for the Chile Pepper Festival next Saturday.
