City Of San Marcos Engineers To Host Community Meeting At Activity Center

City of San Marcos Engineers will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, April 23, in Room 3 of the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E.  Hopkins, at 6 PM, to present an overview of the Purgatory Creek Improvements Project.

This project addresses stormwater drainage along Purgatory Creek from Wonder World Drive to the San Marcos River.

This is the second public meeting. Results from the engineering evaluations of the project will be presented as well as the proposed recommended design concepts.

City engineers and consultants have studied options to reduce localized flooding, improve run-off water quality, and proposed infrastructure to improve the existing drainage utilities.

Information given will include the flood risk reduction that will result from the project, as well as details on the natural channel design that will be used to protect existing grow zones and enhance ecological benefits to this urban drainage corridor.

The Purgatory Creek Improvements were identified in the City’s Stormwater Master Plan and are funded as a Capital Improvement Project (CIP).

Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for attendees to talk with engineers and staff to give comments, ask questions and express any concerns.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend. For more information on the project, please call the City of San Marcos Engineering Department at 512.393.8130 or visit http://www.sanmarcostx.gov/1592/Purgatory-Creek-Improvements.
