County Sets Public Meeting To Plan For Posey Road Corridor Growth

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County is seeking public input into its study on the rapid growth along the Posey Road Corridor.
“With many residential and commercial developments under construction and planned in the area, growth is going to continue,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley said. “We want to work now to be prepared for this growth and ensure we can maintain the quality of life we all enjoy here in Hays County.”
The County’s study will take into consideration current and projected traffic in the area and best ways to accommodate increased traffic and enhance safety.
The focus will be on identifying roadway improvements from Hunter Road to Old Bastrop Highway (CR 266). Also being studied is a possible future extension of Posey Road from Old Bastrop Highway to SH 123. The study is anticipated to be complete by summer 2017 and is being funded by Hays County.
“Ideas and comments from stakeholders and the community will help shape the development and direction of the study,” Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe said. “Our goal is to ultimately provide a safe, smooth corridor for all who live, work and travel along Posey Road.”
At the public meeting officials will share a preliminary schematic, background information, an overview of the study, and collect input from stakeholders.
Study highlights from Hunter Road to Old Bastrop Highway include:
- Traffic analysis, geotechnical studies, and environmental investigations
- Survey work
- Evaluation of expansion anticipated to be a future 4-lane divided urban roadway section with bike lanes and sidewalks
- Development of a preliminary schematic for interim and long term projects
Study Highlights from Old Bastrop Highway to SH 123 include:
- Possible extension of Posey Road
- Evaluation of corridor preservation options and right-of-way needs
