I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 11/2 – FRIDAY 11/9

I-35 CORRIDOR MAINTENANCE CLOSURES

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Wonder World Dr. and Hackberry St. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, November 5 through Thursday, November 6

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane at William Cannon Dr. exit. | 10 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Monday, November 5

 

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between William Cannon Dr. and Nelms Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, November 5 and from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, November 7 through Thursday, November 8

 

  • I-35 frontage road left lane closed in both directions across William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Boggy Creek Dr. and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Corral Ln. and Foremost Dr. | From 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, November 5 through Tuesday, November 6

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Foremost Dr. and Slaughter Ln. | 10 PM until 5 AM Monday, November 5 through Tuesday, November 6

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between the William Cannon Dr. exit and Boggy Creek Dr. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, November 7 through Thursday, November 8

 

  • William Cannon Dr. closed across I-35. Use other exits. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Friday, November 9

 

  • Eastbound William Cannon Dr. right lane closed at I-35. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, November 5

 

  • Alternating eastbound William Cannon Dr. closures at I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, November 6 through Thursday, November 8

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Various I-35 frontage road closures in both directions between Woodland Ave. and Woodward St. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Monday, November 5

 

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions between Holly St. and Manor Rd. The lower deck will also be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 6. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Thursday, November 8

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | 9 AM until 3 PM Tuesday, November 6 through Friday, November 9

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Woodland Ave. and the Oltorf St. entrance ramp. | 8 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, November 6 through Wednesday, November 7

 

  • Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed at 6th St. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, November 6 through Wednesday, November 7

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Clock Tower Dr. closed at northbound US 183. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Carver Ave. closed at southbound US 183. | Through winter 2018

 

  • I-35 closed in both directions between Blackson Ave. and US 183. Exit #240 will also be closed. | Intermittently between 6:30 AM until 10 AM Sunday, November 4

 

  • Southbound I-35 exit #237 closed at Airport Blvd. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Monday, November 5

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Reinli St. and 46th St. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Monday, November 5

 

  • Southbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Thursday, November 8

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between US 183 and St. Johns Ave. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, November 5 through Tuesday, November 6

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Blackson Ave. and US 183. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, November 5 through Thursday, November 8

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at SH 45N. The northbound U-turn will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Monday, November 5

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between US 79 and RM 620. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Thursday, November 8

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between Gattis School Rd. and RM 620. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, November 4 through Thursday, November 8 and from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9
