I-35 Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts You Need To Know Before You Start Your Weekly Commute

Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts
for Week of January 28 – February 1
I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE
PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.
New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

- Various I-35 northbound frontage road closures at William Cannon Dr | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, January 28 through Friday, February 1
- Westbound William Cannon Dr right turn lane closed at I-35 | Through winter 2019

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.
PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

- Northbound I-35 frontage road left land closed between SH 71 and Woodward St | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, January 28 through Saturday, February 2
- Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Woodward St | 9 AM until 3 PM Wednesday, January 30 through Friday, February 1
- Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one right lane at Woodland Ave. Exit #232 will be also be closed. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, January 30 through Thursday, January 31
- Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Oltorf St and Woodland Ave. Exit #232 will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, January 30 through Thursday, January 31
- Eastbound Oltorf St right turn lane closed at I-35 | 9 AM until 3 PM Tuesday, January 29

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST
PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.
The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

- I-35 south to northbound U-turn closed at US 290 E | Through Wednesday, April 10
- St. Johns Ave reduced to one lane in both directions across I-35 | Until further notice
- I-35 closed in both directions at Norwood Park Blvd and Wonsley Dr. Wonsley Dr will also be closed. | 6 AM until 9 AM Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27
- I-35 left lane closed in both directions between US 290 E and US 183 | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, January 27 through Thursday, January 31
- Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Rundberg Ln and Powell Ln. Use Exit #241 for Rundberg Ln. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, January 27 through Thursday, January 31
- Northbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183 | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, January 27 through Thursday, January 31

I-35 AT FM 3406
PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.
The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH
PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

- Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Gattis School Rd and RM 620 | 8 AM until 3 PM Monday, January 28 through Friday, February 1
- Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 79/Sam Bass Rd and RM 620 | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, January 28 through Friday, February 1
- Look for northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 29

- Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed at 6th St | 2 AM until 5 AM Tuesday, January 29 and from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, January 30 through Thursday, January 31

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305
PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.
