After three days of witness and victim testimonies, the jury returned Friday before 2 p.m. with a sentence for the former Texas State University student who killed a man and his unborn child in August 2016.
Shana Elliott’s trial began on Monday, March 5. She pled guilty to two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault. After deliberating for three-hours on Thursday and all of Friday morning, the jury returned with a sentence for all three charges.
Elliott received 10 years’ probation for the 1st count of intoxication manslaughter, 7 years in prison for the 2nd count of intoxication manslaughter and 7 years in prison for the count of intoxication assault.
No decision has been made on whether the sentences will be served concurrently or consecutively yet.
However, the state requested her sentence be served consecutively, and Judge Jack Robison said he would take it into consideration.
