San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is making strides to engage its students in learning every day.

San Marcos CISD has nearly 8,000 students enrolled between its high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools according to the district’s website.

Dual Language students enjoy trip to Candy Land

Mendez Elementary students in Ms. Apolinar’s dual language classroom enjoyed a trip to Candy Land on Friday, October 11.

Students made their way around the board by learning and practicing their numbers, letters, and colors in English and Spanish.

 

SMHS Cheerleaders host record-setting Cheer Camp

San Marcos HS Cheerleaders hosted a record-setting 140+ San Marcos CISD elementary students at a three-day cheer camp this week.

Coach Lee and the cheer team capped off the week by hosting the cheer campers at the Friday Night football game on October 11. The Jr. cheerleaders had the opportunity to run through the Rattler tunnel and perform prior to the game.

 

SMHS Culinary students compete in Food Truck Wars

San Marcos HS Intro to Culinary students wrapped up their food truck projects this week by competing in school’s first Food Truck Wars. The student groups created menus that included pricing and variety of options for their “food truck”.

The student body was then invited to visit the multiple food trucks and judge which food truck was the most appealing. The food truck visitors were provided with monopoly money and were asked to “tip” their favorite truck.

Bonham Pre-K students enjoy Pajama Day

Bonham Pre-K students enjoyed a school-wide pajama day for earning 2,500 paw pats by being safe, respectful, and responsible!

Mendez Elementary honors local Wounded Warriors

 

Mendez Elementary hosted the school’s annual Wounded Warriors celebration this morning with a joyful welcome, student performances, and poems read by gifted and talented students.

The Wounded Warriors also enjoyed a volleyball match with 5th grade students, followed by a luncheon hosted by the school’s parent group. Thank you for yours service, Wounded Warriors!

 

Travis students become H-E-B Buddy League Agents

Travis Elementary K-2nd grade students have officially been initiated into the H-E-B Buddy League!

Students completed a series of anti-bullying exercises this morning to become HEB Buddy Agents for their positive behavior towards maintaining a bully-free campus. Please congratulation the new agents!

 

Eight grade students participate in Job Shadow Day

San Marcos CISD 8th grade students participated in Job Shadow Day on Friday, October 11. Students toured Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel Conference Center & Spa, Central Texas Medical Center, the San Marcos Regional Airport, and the Hays County Government Center.

Job Shadow Day gave students a great opportunity for our future workforce to gain real-world experience and valuable insight as they begin to determine the paths they will take following high school.

The goal was for students to come away with a better understanding of their field of interest and the skills needed to be successful in that field.
