Possible Cause Of Death Released For The Hays High School Student

“We also understand Xavier was planning to serve our country in the United States Army following graduation in just seven weeks.”

Authorities are still investigating the death of 17-year-old Xavier Jacaman, a Hays County High School student who was found late Friday evening in Buda.

Information received from Hays County Sheriff’s Office yesterday, the preliminary investigation suggests “a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound, but investigators are tracking down possible witnesses. We can’t release anything else at this time.”

Below is a statement sent out by Tim Savoy, Hays CISD Public Information Officer yesterday.

“Hays High School and the greater Hays CISD family is in mourning again. We were saddened to learn about the death on Friday night of 17-year-old Xavier Jacaman. Xavier was a member of the Class of 2017.”

“He was a gifted student who proudly ran on the Rebel Cross-Country Team and was studying to earn his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification through the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.”

“We also understand Xavier was planning to serve our country in the United States Army following graduation in just seven weeks. It is a painful loss. Please keep Xavier’s family and dear friends in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”
