Rental Report: San Marcos Ranked As The Most Affordable City In Austin Metro For December

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in December 2019 across 7 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest-growing rents. The Texas one-bedroom median rent was $937 last month.

The Most Expensive

Austin was the most expensive city with one-bedrooms priced at $1,230.

Leander rent stayed flat at $1,120 and ranked as the second priciest city.

Cedar Park was third with rent at $1,100.

The Least Expensive

San Marcos ranked as the most affordable city with one-bedrooms priced at $900.

Round Rock was second with rent at $1,020.

Georgetown rent dropped 0.9% to $1,050 and ranked as the third.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

Leander had the fastest-growing rent, up 4.7% since this time last year.

Pflugerville saw rent climb 1.9%, making it the second-fastest-growing.

San Marcos was third with rent increasing 1.1%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

Pflugerville was the only city with a positive monthly rental growth rate, up 0.9%.

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings that hit the market last month. Listings are aggregated by the city to calculate the median asking rents.
