Report: San Marcos had least expensive rent in region

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in August 2021 across 6 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Texas one-bedroom median rent was $1,032 last month.

The Most Expensive

  Austin was the most expensive city with one-bedrooms priced at $1,370.

  Cedar Park ranked as the second priciest with rent at $1,280.

  Pflugerville followed closely behind as third with rent at $1,250.

The Least Expensive

  San Marcos ranked as the most affordable city with one-bedrooms priced at $930.

  Round Rock was second with rent at $1,230.

  Georgetown saw rent jump 5.1% to $1,240 and ranked as third.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

  Round Rock had the fastest growing rent, up 17.1% since this time last year.

  Pflugerville was second with rent climbing 16.8%.

  Cedar Park ranked as third with rent increasing 9.4%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

  Austin had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.4%.

  Round Rock & Georgetown were tied for second with rents both climbing 5.1% last month.

  Pflugerville ranked as third with rent increasing 5%.

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings that hit the market last month. Listings are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents.
