Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts

for February 15 – 21

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 main lanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 main lanes going over Posey Road.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Posey Road bridge closed at I-35.
    ° Until further notice
  • Northbound I-35 exit #199 for Posey Road and exit #200 for Centerpoint Road are closed.
    ° Until further notice
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily from Posey Road to York Creek Road.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 from 8 AM until 5 PM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 main lanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • East and westbound I-35 frontage roads reduced to one lane daily at Stassney Lane.
    ° Monday, Feb. 10 through Saturday, Feb. 15 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • North and southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily at Stassney Lane.
    ° Monday, Feb. 10 through Saturday, Feb. 15 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for main lanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane daily from Woodward Street to Oltorf Street.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly from Oltorf Street to Woodward Street.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 through Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 10 PM until 6 AM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from Camino La Costa to St. Johns Avenue.
    ° Through mid-2020
  • Northbound US 183 frontage road left lane closed from I-35 to Gessner Drive.
    ° Through mid-2020
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly from St. Johns Avenue to Rundberg Lane. The St. Johns Avenue exit ramp (#240) and Rundberg Lane entrance ramp will also be closed.
    ° Sunday, Feb. 16 through Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM
  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from St. Johns Avenue exit ramp (#240) to Rundberg Lane entrance ramp.
    ° Sunday, Feb. 16 through Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM
  • North and southbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from St. Johns Avenue to US 183.
    ° Sunday, Feb. 16 through Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM
  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from US 183 to Rutherford Lane. The Rundberg Lane exit ramp (#241) will also be closed.
    ° Sunday, Feb. 16 through Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM
  • Southbound US 183 exit ramp closed at Cameron Road.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 from 6 AM until 3 PM
  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Blackson Avenue to Huntland Drive.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily at St. Johns Avenue.
    ° Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Northbound US 183 left lane closed nightly from Clock Tower Drive to I-35.
    ° Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

I-35 FROM US-79 TO SH-45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 main lanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption.

The start date is summer 2019 and is scheduled to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.
