GSMP Announces 660+ New Jobs In Hays and Caldwell Counties In FY 2017

Greater San Marcos Partnership Releases 2017 Annual Report and Announces 2018 Board of Directors.

San Marcos, Tex. – The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) announced over 660 new jobs and more than $27.8 million in investment in Hays and Caldwell Counties between October 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017. The announcement comes with the release of its Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Annual Report at the organization’s Annual Meeting on October 12, 2017 at Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos.

 

Key highlights from the report include:

  • 11 relocation/expansions announcements resulting in 662 new jobs
  • 175 existing business interactions
  • $138 million+ invested or committed in transportation infrastructure
  • Full two-county region obtains Triple Freeport status
  • 30 percent of 7th through 12th grade students participate in career-focused programs
  • New brand and website for GSMP unveiled
  • National media coverage in Forbes, CNBC, Thrillist, and Bloomberg Technology

GSMP uses the Vision 2020 five-year regional economic development strategy to guide its plan of for FY 2015 through 2020. Metrics included in the report are laid out in the strategy, which is available at greatersanmarcostx.com/vision-2020.

 

In addition to the release of its Annual Report, GSMP announces the FY 2018 Board of Directors Officers and Members, which will be chaired by Dr. Denise Trauth, President of Texas State University.
