San Marcos, Lockhart To Participate In LCRA’s 5th Annual Steps Forward Day

The Lower Colorado River Authority Employees will host their 5th annual Steps Forward Day on April 5, 2019.
The program launched its Steps Forward Employee Volunteer program in 2015 to give back to the communities LCRA serves.
Since the program launched, hundreds of employees have gathered to work on more than 120 community projects from the Texas Hill Country to the Texas Gulf Coast as part of Steps Forward Day, according to LCRA.
LCRA works with customers to identify service projects in their communities and supplies the labor and materials need to complete the project.
In 2018, the City of San Marcos was among more than 30 community projects which participated in the LCRA Steps Forward Day.
LCRA employees replanted gardens and large planters, pressure washed fire hydrants and cleaned graffiti from walls around Downtown San Marcos.
This year, volunteers are slated to do landscaping around town square, clear debris from tree grates and remove graffiti from the downtown area.
Lockhart will also be one of the communities to receive help on community projects this year.
Volunteers will help paint the interior of the bank building, weeding and planting in Lockhart’s downtown square and around City Hall. The flowerbeds at Lockhart City Park will also be replanted as part of Steps Forward Day.
LCRA reviews each project application and assigns a team lead to visit the work site to discuss the project’s scope, needed equipment and safety issues.
