San Marcos PD investigate report of woman drugged at The Davenport bar

SAN MARCOS — On March 7, Texas State student Kenzie Smith posted to a Facebook group stating she was roofied on March 4 at The Davenport, a local bar located on Guadalupe Street in San Marcos.

“I had only gotten 1 (one) shot at the bar, and within less than an hour, I had disappeared from my group of two friends and came back stumbling, slurring my words, and blacked out,” Smith wrote. “I do not remember anything after arriving at Davenport.”

She also said she had reached out to The Davenport through email and Instagram direct message, to which they had yet to respond.

The Davenport posted on March 19, thanking everyone for their concerns regarding Smith’s post, stating that they provided all information they have to SMPD.

“Until their investigation is complete we have been unable to respond publicly. We are committed to the safety of our guests an will continue to do everything we possibly can in this endeavor,” The Davenport said in a Facebook post.

On March 24, San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) posted that they were aware of the situation at The Davenport from Smith’s social media post.

“Although the individual did not file a police report, we conducted a complete and thorough investigation with The Davenport’s full cooperation in the interest of public safety and community well-being. Our investigation, which included a review of video surveillance and interviews with involved parties, found no evidence of wrongdoing by any of the establishment’s employees and concluded that the claims were unfounded,” SMPD said in the Facebook post.
