San Marcos Public Library Wins Second Branding Award

The Branding Iron award may be won by any type of Texas library. Nominations are submitted by the libraries and may cover promotional activities conducted in the past two years.

The San Marcos Public Library has won the 2018 Branding Iron Award for best advertising from the Texas Library Association. This is the second year in a row the library has earned the award.

The Library was recognized for three videos filmed and edited by the City’s video technician Dan Robertson and featuring Children’s Librarian Ashley Schimelman.

They were posted on YouTube and Facebook to promote the summer reading program for Summer 2017.

“Dan and Ashley have great talent for creating videos that are eye-catching and entertaining,” said Library Director Diane Insley. “The videos have gained thousands of views and are wonderful advertising for our library programs.”

The Branding Iron award may be won by any type of Texas library. Nominations are submitted by the libraries and may cover promotional activities conducted in the past two years.  A panel of judges select the winners.

The Texas Library Association was established in 1902 to promote, support, and improve library services in Texas.  TLA is the largest state library association in the United States with over 7,200 members.
