San Marcos Announces Watch Party For City Progress 2020 Update

The City of San Marcos has announced it will host a free video watch party of this year’s collaborative annual review of city progress, called “SMTX 2020,” online and through the City’s public access channel on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 6 PM.

The video will be broadcast on Spectrum Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16. It will also stream online and on the City of San Marcos – City Hall Facebook page.

Speakers will include Mayor Jane Hughson, SMCISD Superintendent Michael Cardona, and Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra.

The three speakers will cover the events of 2019, the challenges of 2020, and the hopes for 2021 from the perspectives of the three organizations.

“This is a favorite event of staff and constituents, as it brings the groups together to reflect on and plan for progress,” said Mayor Hughson. “Although we are adjusting the format, we expect as much, if not more, citizen involvement this year as it has been one of our most eventful in recent history.”

Last year, the City of San Marcos held their first community “State of the City” event.

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual State of the City Luncheon in July; those who purchased tickets to the event watched it live while dining at one of three local restaurants.

The video was later posted on the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page for anyone to watch; it can still be viewed here.
