San Marcos Dedicate New Mural At Raising Cane’s

“This mural recognizes that abundant and healthy fresh food for all is necessary for the well-being of our community,” said Mayor John Thomaides.

The City of San Marcos will dedicate one of its newest mural projects on Wednesday, July 11 at Raising Cane’s, 928 SH 80, at 9 a.m.

The mural, located on the retaining wall by Raising Cane’s, brings to life the idea of farm-to-table food for our community and was created by artists Nina Sandoval and Mabel Sirup.

The mural calls on people to be healthy and encourages us to purchase food from local farms—an excellent way to eat what’s in season, support local businesses and lower our carbon footprint.

“This mural recognizes that abundant and healthy fresh food for all is necessary for the well-being of our community,” said Mayor John Thomaides.

The mural design was chosen and approved by Raising Cane’s after a public call for artists was held last spring.

The San Marcos Mural Arts Program is a City project designed to deter graffiti, beautify all areas of town, and support the local arts community. Funds for the program are allocated from the City’s hotel occupancy tax collections.
