Located in the San Marcos River Corridor and overlooking Rio Vista park, the pub has spent the last four years undergoing renovations and improvements to the interior of the restaurant.

Co-owners Curtis and Lori Gunnarson inherited the property from Ivar Gunnarson, a local businessman, who passed away many years ago. In September 2016, the co-owners announced the restaurant would be renamed Ivar’s River Pub in honor of Curtis’s father, Ivar.

The owners hope to reopen the restaurant in the last spring or this summer. The menu will bring back some old favorites as well as offer some new items.

Before the River Pub resumes business, the floor elevation will have to be raised one foot above the 100-year-flood plain to abide by city codes and ordinances.
