$20 for textbook

20 hours of total classroom time

20 hours of volunteering within 6 months of classroom completion

Classroom Dates and Times:

March 14 and 28 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The first Master Composting Certification class completed its coursework in October 2014. Volunteers with Texas State University’s Bobcat Blend taught students how to set up and manage a backyard compost pile, and are now the students are completing 20 hours of volunteer work.  Most are helping community gardens get their compost piles productive, while others are helping Bobcat Blend.

At the last class, there was a field trip to the Bobcat Blend facility to see how they manage a large composting operation.

Residents interested in signing up for the Master Composter Certification should contact Amy Kirwin at akirwin@sanmarcostx.gov.
